Arrivals in Chandigarh, pick up from airport and drive to Manali, distance 308 kms and travel time 7 hours. The view along the route is scenic foothills and valleys of the western Himalaya peppered by small waterfalls.

The day starts with an early drive from Manali (1850m) to Ragrik (3500m), distance 190kms, passing through the Rohtang Pass (3978m) and Kunzam Pass (4500m). Stop to explore the area of ChandraBaga Range

The day will be spent to visit the many monasteries of Spiti. After breakfast, an early drive to Kee Monastery, Kibber village and monastery (4200m), Dhankar Monastery(3700m) & Tabo Monastery (3500m). Dhankar is the old capital of Spiti and Tabo Monastery is the oldest monastery in the area. Camp at Rangrik.

After a hearty walk in the morning along the banks of the Spiti River, we drive to Chander Tal Lake, meaning the Moon Lake, which is nestled between two valleys behind a high pass, surrounded by glacier and pinnacle of mountains part of the CB range.

After breakfast, we take a short walk around Gadhi Thach, stepping on soft Himalayan grass and circle the Chander Tal. Then drive back to Manali

Today we drive down to Shimla, 270kms from Manali. It is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, and was the “summer capital” during British rule India. It is a small township on a hill overlooking verdant valleys and surrounded by snowcapped mountains.

Return drive to Delhi via Chandigarh, distance 350 kms and travel time 8hrs
